In your service what information do you share with families about their child’s rest and sleep times? How do you share this information?

Record all sleep start and end times on a sleep chart/ information sheet that is visible for all parents and carers to view at the end of the day when picking up their child. Keep a communications book to write down information the parents pass on for their child's sleep (eg how much sleep they should have or no sleep at all, if they don't want you to pat them etc). Talk to parents/carers about things such as if the child cried before or after their sleep and why this might have happened, if they drank their bottle or had their dummy if they use one, or possible reasons they the child might have slept longer/shorter than usual etc.

We keep at our service a daily chart which includes a column for sleep and rest. We write when the child went to sleep and when the child woke up. We also write if the child had a rest. We keep the daily chart out in the foyer at the end of the day for parents/guardians to see. Also we verbalise to the parents. We keep the daily charts to analyse child's patterns and behavior's.

All sleeping and waking times are recorded on a sheet which is placed next to the sign out book for parents to read when they pick up their children. IN babies room parents write down what time the child woke up and when they would like them to have their sleeps, bottle etc. also regular communication with parents to keep on top of what parents want to happen and if anything new or different is happening during the day.
